| Subject: jailbreak 3.1.3 all models including iPad!! Tue May 03, 2011 9:44 pm | |
| Here's my complete guide on how to jailbreak firmware 3.1.3 for iPhone/iPod touch and 3.2 on Ipad.
So this jailbreak comes from Comex who has finally released spirit, an extremely simple jailbreak that at most 15 minutes to complete; and is worth of every second of it.
Read more about it here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Supported iDevices iPhone: 1G, 2G, 3G, 3G[S] iPod touch: 1G, 2G, 3G iPad: Wi-Fi model, 3g model
Supported firmwares 3.1.2 3.1.3 3.2 (iPad only)
What you will need An iDevice that is on official firmware (non-jailbroken) iTunes (any version, but I recommend version 9.x.x) The spirit application for jailbreaking (links are below) Some free time
Step 1 To start with you need to download spirit for whichever OS you have
Mac: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Windows: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
now extract the file to somewhere easy to find it, I recommend the desktop
Step 2 Plug in your iDevice.
If you are on official firmware skip to step 3
If you have an already jailbroken iDevice then you must restore to official firmware
You can either download the firmware from iTunes or you can get it from the correct thread below depending on your iDevice
iPod touch/iPhone Firmware: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
iPad Firmware: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Credit goes to samisere for uploading the firmware, so please thank him Restore/updating firmware The official way
Open up iTunes and go to the iDevice tab in the left "iPod" in this case
Select the iDevice and click "restore"
- If you are on 3.1.3 then it will go straight to downloading.
- If you are on an older firmware such as 3.1.2 or anything below 3.1.3 then it will prompt you to download the new firmware select accept and it will start to download and after the download is finished it will start to restorejust wait for it to finish
The unofficial way Visit one these thread:http://www.appleiso.com/showthread.php?t=6991 and download the correct model 3.1.3 firmware for your iDevice (if you have an iPhone 3G[S] then download the iPhone 3G[S] 3.1.3 firmware.)
If you have an iPad visit this thread: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
To restore using these firmwares you have to open up the iDevice tab in iTunes and click on restore while holding either shift (windows) or option (mac)
mac: option+click on restore windows: shift+click restore
Your iDevice should now be on official apple firmware 3.1.3 (3.2 if you're on iPad) now to jailbreak
Step 3 Remember that spirit app you downloaded? Well it's time to use it. If you didn't download it already then get it here
Mac: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Windows: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Make sure it's somewhere easy to find (like the desktop) and double click to open it. Make sure your iDevice is plugged in.After you've opened Spirit you'll notice it lists your iDivice model and firmwareNow simply press the big button that says "Jailbreak" it will now give you a loading screen Now just to wait
If you look at your iDevice you'll see that the screen has changed to a pinkish space picture with a loading bar, wait for it to finish. After it finishes you'll notice that you now have a new icon called "cydia" this means your iDevice has been jailbroken
Notes If your having trouble with spirit and your using windows try running it in 98/ME mode to do this
right click > properties > compatibility mode > 98/ME
If you run into any problems with the jailbreak...simply try it again, chances are it will work this time, if it doesn't leave a comment and I'll try to help you with it
Other problems; answers found by swift finch credit goes to him
"Spirit requires iTunes 9 to function. Please install a correct version of iTunes then run Spirit again." Either redownloading it or renaming it to something else seems to fix this.
Error c0000138 Copy the libeay32.dll file from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\ to your system32 folder. Works fine __________________ | |
